Formerly known as the Phoenix Badminton Club and the Valley Badminton Club, the Arizona Badminton Club (a member of USA Badminton) was founded in early 1980's to introduce and promote the sport of badminton to the Phoenix community. Club members meet every Tuesday night at the Independence High School gym to play pick-up games and exchange badminton information. Members are required to bring their own equipment (i.e., racquets and shuttlecocks) to participate in games. The club hosts two annual open tournaments: the Grand Canyon State Games in the summer and the Arizona Smash Bash Doubles Tournament in the fall.

After years of dreaming and searching we established the first fully dedicated badminton-specific facility in Arizona history opening on February 20, 2012. Now, more than 3 years later we continue to celebrate having great badminton play day after day, 7 days a week! We are consistently working to improve our club so that everyone who plays, whether a member or a visitor, has the best possible badminton experience. Along with lots of hours of Open Play 7 days a week and a fully operational Pro Shop with stringing services and a wide array of rackets and accessories, we also offer Kids Classes, Intro Adult Classes, private lessons, tournaments of all types for all ability levels, our famous Badminton Workout, and the HL Arizona Badminton Academy.

We are fortunate to have a number of recreation centers where you can play 6 days a week at different times of the day. From 6:00AM, for those who prefer to play before work, to Saturday afternoons for those less eager, you can find people playing badminton. From beginners to experienced players, you can find players with similar abilities to play with at very reasonable prices. The city also hosts Senior Tournaments and the University of Arizona, located in midtown, hosts open tournaments as well.
