Details: SGVBC started in September of 1995 as a modest 3 court club in our location at 9255 Telstar Ave. in El Monte. There were two people behind the start up of facility: Bob Cook and Eric McMullin. Bob had been a long time member and the President of the historic Pasadena Badminton Club that had operated in a city owned building in Old Town Pasadena for more than 40 years. Eric had been a recreational badminton enthusiast since enjoying the game in High School and College. While Bob and Eric did not really know each other, they soon began collaborating on developing the new club. The new club in El Monte benefited from the original Pasadena Badminton Club which had fought for “relocation funding” from the city of Pasadena when they were forced out of their long time home on Raymond Ave. Over the years SGVBC has been fortunate to grow into the largest club in the area with 18 courts and more than one thousand dedicated members.
